Tackle it Tuesday-Uncluttering my Desk

Oh my goodness! Did I ever need to do this tackle.

Junk just seems to multiply on my desk. Then it seems to multiply everywhere.

Honestly, once my desk gets to this point I just sort of give up on everything else. Pitiful isn't it.

Well, today I just couldn't take it any longer. I took everything off of the desk, piled it on the floor and then started sorting. I had a trash pile, a file pile, a pay bills pile and a this goes in another room pile.

Here is the after picture. So much nicer! The notebook that you see open on the desk is my Home Management Binder. I decided it was ok to have that out- so maybe I'll actually start using it!!! hee hee!!

Tackle it Tuesday-Weight Loss

Well, just got back from vacation where I ate WAY too much junk. I also saw pictures of myself and believe me I did not like what I saw.

So today- I am making a commitment to get back on track with my WW point counting and drinking lots and lots of water. I also am going to up my exercising. I've been running three days a week but those other days have been wimpy workouts. Well, not any more. I'm really going to start pushing myself again.

So far today has been really good. I had a sensible breakfast and a not too bad lunch. Getting ready to have some fruit for a snack and will have a large salad for dinner. Need to get that water in though!!

It is frustrating though! It seems that as soon as I hit the big FOUR-O I can not lose weight. It's like I'm stuck at this one weight and it ain't gonna budge. Well, not much anyway. My weight may fluctuate a few pounds up and down but it has pretty much stayed the same for the past year. I am determined to get this moving in the downward direction this time!

Tackle it Tuesday

Ok, this weeks tackle really isn't "my" tackle. It's really the kiddos tackle. A few weeks ago they were feeling guilty because they'd been fighting like crazy and I was at my wits end. Everything finally came to a head one night and all four of us ended up not so happy-DH included. So a little later that evening they come down from the bonus room and give us a note telling up they wanted to make us dinner one night. We could choose- "skety", soup or meatballs. We chose skety and meatballs.

Well, last night they decided it was The Night- they were going to fix dinner for us. Of course they had a "little" help from the grown-ups, but they did help. Then they set the table, lit the candles and served us our food and took their dinner upstairs and ate in the bonus room- with only one trip downstairs during the entire meal. And that interruption was for Mark to whisper to his Dad that he should ask me to dance!- which he did and we did!

We all had a great time! They said they need to do that more often and then said "Maybe we'll do it once a year for you"! Kids, ya gotta love 'em!!!

Boy, last week I tackled a big one! I painted the last bathroom. If you want to see what the other two turned out to look like you and look here and here.

As I started painting this one I wasn't so crazy about the color. Thought it was too much. But once I finished and got everything back in place I really liked it. DH even liked it!

Now it's time to tackle the bedrooms and laundry room. DH says we'll hire someone to paint the downstairs. Hum, wonder if he's trying to tell me something! LOL

Man, I have been needing to clean out two drawers in my dresser for the longest time!! So I decided it was finally time to dive in and get it taken care of.

Boy- it sure feels good to have that taken care of! Why in the world did I put it off for so long?

Tackle it Tuesday

Well, this past week I decided to go ahead and tackle painting the half bath downstairs. Our whole house is painted Antique White (a.k.a. light oatmeal color). DH loved it- he's a neutral kind of guy but I like some color so I'm repainting all of the bathrooms. He doesn't know it yet but the laundry room is next and maybe I'll even get daring and do the kitchen and a main accent wall in the living room. But for now- here's what I tackled!

1. Clean upstairs bathroom that has been shared by 6 males most of the summer-can you say NASTY!!! LOL

Well, today I'm tackling a couple of things but won't have before and after pictures. Here's my list:

1. Bathrooms- with FOUR guys using one bathroom you can imagine that this one needs cleaning!!!

2. While I'm tackling my bathroom I'm cleaning the shower doors-I've become obsessed with getting the soap scum off those doors. Today I'm trying two different things-Goo Gone-I tried in on a small corner and it seemed to work well and WD40-yep that's right! We'll see what works.

3. Getting the kiddos registered for school.

4. just some other this and that stuff!

Tackle it Tuesday

I wasn't sure what I was going to tackle today until I was reading I'm An Organizing Junkie this morning. A reader had posted about needing to do something about the pile of shoes by their door. Boing- the light bulb went off! YES, that's what I need to tackle.

My oh my, the shoes are multiplying!!! Yikes, I've got to do something about this mess! We have a laundry basket that we put shoes in but then you have to dig through it to find what we want and that makes the mess even worse!! Then add the two college baseball players that are living with us to the mix and the shoes get bigger and take up even more room! I need to do somethign about this mess!!!

So here is the before picture. I'm going shopping today to find something to help out! Hopefully I can post an after later today!!!

Ok, I'm finished! I bought the storage caddy at Target for $19.99. It's made out of a sturdy poly material and I just had to snap the pieces together. They had other ones but this one worked fine. The only problem is the holes aren't big enough for the bigger guys shoes (they're size 13 and 14) so I could only put one shoe in each hole but that's fine. It looks so much better! Take a look!
