I don't know how it is at your house but Mondays are not pretty around the Wright household. It is down right ugly sometimes. I think I've come to expect them to be bad so they are probably even worse than what they normally would be.
A couple of weekends ago I attended a Women's Retreat at Lake Junaluska and found a devotional book and I've decided to share it with you! The title is The Power of a Positive Mom: 52 Monday Morning Motivations.
So, come on back every Monday and get a little Monday Moment for Mom!!
Created in His Image
Key Scripture: Genesis 1:27-31So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them. God blessed them and told them, "Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals." And God said, "Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food." And so it was. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way.
Mom's Reflection:
Amazing! "God created people in his own image," and his creation was "excellent in every way!"
The power of these truths can have a tremendous impact in our lives and in the lives of our children.
Think about it: we are created in the image of Almighty God! Perhaps you don't feel so God-like all the time. Me neither. But "created in his image" (quite obviously) doesn't mean that we are exactly like God in all his supernatural power and splendor. Rather, it means we are a reflection of his person and character. We can reason. We can show love, patience, kindness, and forgiveness. We have a soul, which sees us apart from the rest of creation.
When we are tempted to think, I just don't have what it take to be a good mom or God must have made a mistake when he made me, we can rest in the assurance that God has created us-and he did so in an excellent way. Our worth is based on the fact that we have been made by God himself to be like him!! Knowing that we bear God's image out to give us a positive view of ourselves and others, including our children and family members. Let us not criticize what God has made, but rather rejoice in his creation, knowing that he makes no mistakes!
A Few thoughts---------
- In what way do you see yourself as a unique and special creation of God?
-this week choose to rejoice in the fact that you are created in God's image.
-this week choose to encourage your children to know they are made by God in an excellent way.
-this week choose to enjoy every person who crosses your path as a unique creation of
God.
-this week choose to....... (you set this goal for yourself)
Prayer:
"Glorious Creator, marvelous Father, thank you for the way you created me and each and every one of my family members. Thank you for caring so much about mankind that you formed us in your image. I rejoice in your excellent creation! Help me to love and bless my kids, recognizing that they are a reflection of your image. May they begin to grasp the wonderful fact that they have been created in an excellent way for your glory. In Jesus' name I pray, amen"
