My 10 Commandments of Blogging!!

So, I'm still new to this blogging stuff. I've found that I'm easily sucked drawn into the world of bloggers! I get so caught up in reading posts and writing my own that it almost becomes overwhelming.

So my WFMW is my 10 Commandments of Blogging

1. Beth shall not read any blogs before exercising in the a.m. (if I get to the computer before hitting the exercise room I tend to spend way too long reading and not enough time exercising)!

2. Beth shall not try to read more than 5 blogs in more than a 20 min. time period (if I don't watch myself I'll spend the whole day doing it)!

3. Beth shall try to leave at least 5 comments a day!

4. Beth shall realize that her blog is new and not pout be disappointed if she has only 1 comment left on her posts!

5. Beth shall realize that she's new to this and can't make her blog as pretty and fancy as others she visits (at least not yet-lol)

6. Beth shall not try to write the same as other bloggers- she needs to find her own niche!

7. Beth shall not have liquids in her mouth when reading certain blogs (Spewing may occur-thankfully Everyday Mommy has begun using a Spill/Spew Warning Label-would others please do the same!!)!

8. Beth shall try to post at least 3 times a week to her blog-even if no one is reading it- it's theraputic and goodness knows I need all I can get!!

9. Beth shall remember the rule that some time some how the person you least think will read your blog will read it- she will hold her hold her tongue fingers and think of others feelings before she types.

10. Beth shall continue to enjoy posting her blog! That's as easy one to follow!!!

Welcome to the world of blogging. Those are good rules to follow.
You'll be uploading (that was a new term for me just 3 months ago) in no time.

I totally agree with the whole "blogging can really suck you in" thing. Welcome to the wild world of blogs!

I'm right there with you...I should be cleaning my house instead of reading your blog (but...I'm mighty glad I found it!) Welcome... :-)

Hey Beth! Don't know if you remember me or not from Dotti's, but I just wanted to say hi! I was lurking at Dotti's and saw the link to your blog. It's great so far -- I love it! :) Keep up the posts!

Don't worry, you will build up readership soon enough, and with it will come the fun part...receiving all kinds of comments. I have been blogging for months now and just recently opened up my comments to make it easier for people to post. I have been surprised by how many people have stopped in to say they enjoy my blog. I never even knew that I had readers besides my mom and my sister before I did that. Once you start getting comments, blogging becomes a whole lot more fun.

Well said and so true. That is great. You have motivated me to ponder some commandments for me!!

And *then* you get some kind of tracking tool that counts visits/page-loads and get a little wowed at the number of people that stop by w/o leaving comments.

Welcome to the new world ;o)

I agree you need to get a stat-counter or something and you'll be surprised at the number of people who stop by! I think leaving comments on other people's blogs does help as well. Then, they'll come and check you out! :-)

I started blogging a few years ago but averaged about 3 posts a YEAR and it was mostly personal goings on. I've just stared with everyday or close to everyday posts again with a new focus on my blog. I'll visit and comment on your blog if you visit and comment on mine!

Those are all good. Don't worry. Last year when I got started, I totally was sucked into to reading, commenting, writing, reading, finding new blogs etc etc. Enjoy the high of the new hobby. It will pass. Your guidelines are good.

Yes, great commandments. And yes, it is so easy to get sucked in and then overwhelmed! Sounds like you have a great perspective and plan, though.

Good list!
Don't let the stats counters or comments suck you in. Those are the crack of the blogosphere. Its so addicting to try to figure out how to get more visitors, see what location your readers are from. Very addictive, indeed!

Yes, it does suck you in! Hard to break loose, too.

p.s. Your boys are adorable :)

p.s. I can make your blog purdy & fancy. Email me :) We'll work something out :)

I need to follow those rules too. Almost 9pm, still haven't exercised today.
